About B.A. LL.B.

B.A. LL.B is a 5 years programme specifically designed for students who decide to pursue law just after they have passed their 12th class. This article covers the basic idea of the syllabus, duration, colleges and their entrances.

 

Eligibility

Qualification of class 10th, 12th or graduation are subjects to pass percentage of 45% for general category, 42% for OBC category, and 40% for SC/ST category.

 

Subjects covered

As the name of the course suggests that there are two degrees that run concurrently or consequently depending upon the college you choose. The syllabus of the B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) is the usually subjects in the B.A. degree i.e. English, Sociology, History, political science etc. The LL.B. Subjects are as prescribed by the bar council rules of legal education. The Bar council’s current rules for legal education gives certain no. of compulsory subjects like Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code and company law etc. Whereas, certain subjects are left to the discretion of the university from which they can choose what to include in the course.

  • Don’t forget to check the affiliation of the college with the bar council India you are choosing to pursue your law degree. As pursuing LL.B from a college that is not recoganized by the BAR Council of India would not have any validity.
